Karin Magnusson (PT, PhD) is a researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and Lund University, Sweden, with several years of experience from using Nordic register based data studying chronic and infectious diseases. She has led a range of studies using data from the Norwegian Emergency Preparedness Register, and has been central in creating a knowledge foundation that has helped to ensure sustainable healthcare services during the covid-19 pandemic. She also has broad experience from using register data, health surveys and imaging modalities in research to gain knowledge on diagnoses and health service use for different musculoskeletal diseases.
Her main achievements are the successful linkages of Norwegian and Swedish twin register data to other data sources, resulting in a significant contribution to the understanding of the genetics and lifetime familial risks of hip and knee joint conditions. She also has a major contribution to the understanding of post-covid health and health care use, particularly among children.
Specific skills/experience:
Registry studies, Epidemiology, Osteoarthritis & knee injuries, Health services research, COVID-19, Family-based studies
